Slightly more success! This batch I put in pillow case and hung on a radiator, 1 week later I have dried petals-yay. Time will tell whether or not they will be ok in a year but I'm going to carry on experimenting and maybe with the use of a de-humidifier. Its probably what I'll end up doing as they are so reasonable and can add glitter too.
