Pink Wedding Cake

As a wedding gift my Mum who is a dab hand with cake making made Sarah's Wedding Cake. All made by hand from scratch including the sugar roses and the cake itself. Teal sprinkles provided by Sarah added in the colour. The flowers on top are from the florist who made the brides flowers.

It turned out amazingly, a lovely creation of pink and roses. With touches of pearl and some lovely texture. Not only did it taste good it was yummy! A week later it is still being eaten and reports say it is still nice and moist.

The fairy cakes at the bottom were a last minute addition, which were very popular with the kiddies

Peacock and Pink Handmade Name cards

This is what you will need to make the name cards:

  • A snippet of the feather was stamped on the bottom
  • Using a permanent pen the guests name was hand written-in hindsight we later started using an ink calligraphy pen which would have given a nicer finish, something to think about
  • A little piece of pink ribbon was used to finish them f and hey were placed on the napkins
  • The menu code was on the back and the guests were asked to turned them over before food got served.
Simple but effective

The top table name cards were different, to make it stand out. These were able to be adapted, so the bride and groom had pink sparkles on them and their little girls name card had a pink butterfly put on it.

Don't worry if it takes some trial and error, check out my first attempt!

Final table plan

So I then made the table plan. This is how if anyone wants to do the same

  • Popped to hobby craft or another craft shop (although they are very few and far between) and got some foam mount board-you will need a craft knife to cut this if you are planning on doing this yourself.
  • Measured the map and cut the foam board.
  • Then mounted the map using double sided tape. You may need a second pair of hands to get it all smooth
  • then using my paper from Inspire Me Papers I printed the lists of who sitting on what table in the order Sarah wanted them sat
  • These were then all mounted on pink card
  • A title piece is needed, Sarah and Dans Wedding 5th October 2013, which was then mounted and using foam squares to give it some height was placed centre of the plan.
  • Each country had to be located-not as easy as you may think! A piece of hot pink ribbon was used to indicate the location with a small pearl for detail.
Overall I was happy with it but I think the table lists could be a bit bigger and also set up like the title piece. Maybe the map could have been mounted too.
A little ditty explaining the reason for the table names may have been nice, although everyone guessing why was a good talking point.

DIY table plan

So then Sarah decides that as well as the Peacocks and Pink she wants to add an element of the husband to be and herself. This involved the tables being named after their favourite holiday destinations and showing this on a map of the world.

Sarah located the map herself on a holiday to Center Parcs and proudly gave it to me. Hats of to her it matched wonderfully as it was very pink!

To start with she gave me a list of all the destinations they had visited and I typed these up. Printed them onto a textured paper, from Inspire Me Papers which really added a extra special feel to them.
I then mounted them onto dark pink paper which was then mounted onto pale pink card.

A little pearl in the corner and a peacock stamp at the bottom completed the look and Sarah was pretty chuffed with them

Chilston Park

Helping a friend. My close friend Sarah got married last week, with very short engagement of 3 months!
So when she asked for help decorating the venue how could I say no.

The brief she gave me was simple, peacock feathers and pink. She wanted it pretty with peacock feathers in the flowers and her bouquet but with an element of travel....a twist I hadn't expected.

So we began with brainstorming for the venue. Having recently stayed in a hotel from the hand picked hotel chain I knew they were lovely. Her only criteria were no church wedding and she wanted it in her home town so it was nice and local.

I checked out the hotel website and bingo, Chilston Park! Not only was it stunning they had last minute availability with a bargain package.

At this point I handed the reins to Sarah, who promptly viewed it and booked it

Hard part done :-)

DIY Sweetie Counter

As I have a very sweet tooth I think a sweetie table is essential. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on hiring a cart so I was a bit stumped.....

Then whilst wondering around a random little second hand shop nearby I found glass bon-bon jars. I fell in love with them, they are so pretty and elegant. They match the theme so well and are hopefully going to look stunning!

Im so excited, I've been backwards and forwards and now have a collection of five that are going to sit on a table in the entrance hall for people to help themselves too.

They also less than £6 each. So go hunting, you never know what you may find

DIY pale pink and Sage invites

I decided to hand make my own cards and this is how they have turned out. Not too shabby, I'm really pleased at how easy it was and they have a personal touch. Do have to say I don't think I saved a huge amount of money on the day invites as we only have 28 to make-remember to count couples as one invite!

I started by ordering blank cards from Wedding Crafter, a awesome website which even has kits to make your own invites. Then using a bird punch that I got from hobby craft a put a bird in the bottom right hand corner, something I carried on into the evening invites. Then using some double sided craft tape, again from hobby craft I put either pink or sage green ribbon along the bottom.

The stamp is from East of India and very reasonably priced, given the fact we want the wedding to be a party we thought the saying was very apt.

A little pearl heart or plain pearl finished of the front. I hope you like them too xx
